Teambuilding
Weardale Outdoor offers some novel ways of increasing teamwork and leadership as part of your Corporate Day Out. We provide a structured day of teambuilding on a variety of tasks. Each task will highlight certain strengths and weaknesses in the individual participants, and the team as a whole. Weardale Outdoor staff will make written observations of each participants contributions and behaviour throughout the day. Just carry on reading and you will see what exciting methods we have of instilling teamwork:
Treasure Hunt:
The task is to follow the clues around the Estate and locate the treasure. The individual works as part of a team to bring back the treasure, the catch is that there is another team looking for it too! It is a race that tests teamwork, leadership, map reading skills and lateral thinking. Each part of the treasure hunt will give the next clue to the puzzle plus the next part of the map.
Command Tasks:
Command Tasks are well used by the Armed Forces to instill teamwork and to help identify the individual's ability to lead. Here at Weardale Outdoor we have a varied choice of tasks to cover all group sizes and ages. In summary, the team is confronted with a logistical problem, and they need to find a way to solve it. There is a time limit, and there are penalties for losing any team members during the game. The Command Tasks are a great way of identifying natural Leadership skills, the ability to work under pressure and the ability to think laterally. It can be used for current employees, or as a way of recruiting only the best. Clients can pick and choose from a variety of these team building exercises to create a tailor-made day that you will benefit from.
All tasks will be chosen appropriately to your group age and ability.
Indoor Days:
How about a nice warm day inside? Roughing it not your cup of tea? We have plenty of indoor teambuilding activities on offer. Below is a short list of some of the things we can offer:
"Invention": Come up with an invention in your team, produce drawings, business plans and market it to the investors. £50 per person (max 12 people) Includes Lunch.
"Comedy Central": Work together in groups to put on an amusing show of comedy and humour. £30 per person (max 20 people). Includes Lunch.
"The show must go on": Choose a famous scene from a classic film and produce it. Use the video equipment and the IT suite to produce the final picture for screening. £80 per person (max 8 people). Includes lunch.
"Picture Paints a thousand words" : Simply work togther to paint a part of a famous picture that has been cut up. Piece together each individuals part to see the differences in peoples' perception of size and space. £40 per person (max 12 people). Includes lunch.
Outdoor Days:
"Command and Control" : Learn about leadership techniques and get put under pressure from the directing staff to lead your team through a series of tasks. £70 per person (max 16 people). Includes Lunch.
"Survival" : Learn how to survive in the outdoors by learning to build a shelter, trap animals, identify natural foods. £50 per person (max 10 people). Includes lunch.
"Treasure Hunt" : As detailed above.
"Lost": A few lessons in map reading followed by planning a short route and then walking it. A good way to get out and about and test your map reading skills. £40 per person (max 12 people). Includes packed lunch.
"Gauntlet Gorge": Conducted by Consett YMCA specialists. This day takes you upto to Ashgill at the top of Weardale for a day of abseiling, gorgewalking, teambuilding skills etc. The day is not for the weak of heart. £60 per person including transport from the Centre. (Max 10 people).
Other activities: Clay Shooting, Archery, Quadbike Trail, Nature Safari, Orienteering

Feedback Report: Businesses and other organisations can request a report highlighting the outcomes of the day and a summary of the individuals characteristics and performances. This facility costs an extra £50, however, it is well worth it to use as a tool in annual appraisals.
